Hey everybody! We’re having our 11th Annual Culture Show this Saturday. Come check it out! It’s FREE! Here’s a synopsis:

Meet Nobu Tanno: An ex-karate enthusiast Nisei who has recently entered the entrepreneurial world of candy-making. As far as his parents are concerned, Nobu plans to inherit his father’s entire company–a daunting task for a young man whose skill-set seem completely unsuited for business management. As Nobu grapples with his parents’ high expectations, he also struggles to find true purpose in his life: should he follow his dreams or come to terms with his reality?

But all is not well in the candy-making realm: while Mr. Tanno’s company, Rare Candy International, recently topped the sales charts, a rival company will stop at nothing to steal the crown. When the rival boss issues a bounty on Nobu’s head, he must also contend with a kappa assassin named Q, who’s out for his blood …or is she out for something more?

Join Nobu, the quirky kappa Q, and a vibrant cast of karate masters, entrepreneurs, caustic kitties, professional assassins, and Nobu’s eclectically energetic family as they navigate the responsibilities of young adulthood, Japanese American identity, and of course, first love.

Featuring performances by traditional Japanese drumming group Asayake Taiko, NSU’s own singing group JIVE, NSU’s hip-hop dance group [N]Motion, and for the first time Souran Bushi performance dance group SoulRun, this night is one not to miss.

Heartbreakingly sweet and fiercely inspirational, we present to you UCSD Nikkei Student Union’s 11th Annual Culture Show.
