Executive

President: Lauren Gima

Job Description: Responsible of allocating duties, providing leadership, and heading Executive Council and general meetings. Also responsible for resolving any conflicts between members and officers. Attends budget hearings for AS funding.

Vice President: Chesa Cox

Job Description: Responsible for helping the president enforce rules, delegating responsibilities, and filling in for the president in his/her absence. Also responsible for delegating duties to the members of the NSU staff.

Finance: Taylor Stephens

Job Description:Responsible for leading/organizing fundraisers for obtaining sufficient funding for various club projects. Also responsible for keeping records of funds. In charge of any money issue that must be resolved (this includes, but is not limited to: NSU sponsors and NSU event sponsors, AS funding, blue forms for fundraisers, etc). It should be noted that the finance person is not responsible for finding persons to work during a fundraiser itself.

Communications: Greg Yamaguchi

Job Description: Responsible for publicizing all NSU events (includes making and distributing flyers and banners as well as publicizing through formal campus media).

Social External: Nicole Gekko

Job Description: Responsible for organizing all social events outside of the UCSD community. Coordinates with both the Social Internal and PAC Representative to plan an efficient social calendar in order to increase attendance for UCSD NSU as well as the other organizations within the Intercollegiate Nikkei Council (INC). Attends INC meetings or finds a replacement to attend to coordinate social events with other INC schools. Also responsible for maintaining ties with the community outside of UCSD, including but not limited to the San Diego community and the Japanese American community.

Social Internal: Chris Zeng

Job Description: Responsible for organizing the majority of welcoming elements for the general body meetings (icebreakers, refreshments, etc.). Also responsible for organizing NSU families and family events. Holds personal information for all of the members for the reason of increasing member retention. This is done through contacting the member personally (birthday, checking up on them, etc.) Also responsible for maintaining relations with organizations within the UCSD community, including student organizations and academic departments.

Secretary: Lisa Espinosa

Provide personal administrative support to management and the organization through conducting administrative duties and activities including receiving and handling information.

Officers

Athletics Chair: Carly

Job Description: Responsible for organizing/signing up teams for the various intramural sports on campus, as well as any sporting event tournament. Also responsible for organizing the NSU spring basketball tournament.

Banquet Chair:

Job Description: Responsible for coordinating all details for NSU’s end of the year banquet, which include but are not limited to: creating a banquet committee, setting up a banquet budget to be approved by the Executive Council, reserving a location for banquet, ordering gifts and favors for seniors and incoming/outgoing officers, decorating the banquet hall, organizing the sale of banquet bids, creating a banquet program and finding an Emcee for the evening.

Community Outreach Chair:

Job Description: Responsible for coordinating events for NSU members to be of service to the community.

Culture Chair:

Job Description: Responsible for organizing events specifically geared toward increasing awareness of Japanese and Japanese American culture.Events include but are not limited to Day of Remembrance and the Pilgrimage to Manzanar.

Culture Show:

Job Description: Responsible for organizing committees which are responsible for various elements of the NSU culture show (i.e. script writing, props, fundraising, etc.). They are also responsible for reserving a place for the show as well as finalizing details for the performance.

Media Chair:

Job Description: In charge of designing the club t-shirt. Also helps with designing ads.

Advisor: Joe Petri and Lori Yonemura

Job Description: Advises current officers when needed based on their experience.

Webmaster: Takahiro Kuwayama

Job Description: Responsible for maintaining the NSU website, performing weekly updates or as often as necessary . Works with Historian to obtain pictures to post on the website.
